– I am very honored to receive this award. It means a lot for me and shows that we are on the right track with our initiatives targeted towards research and innovation in Applied AI. I want to dedicate the price to our whole machine learning research group and all the members of the AI team at Luleå University of Technology and beyond, says Marcus Liwicki.
The Nordea Science Prize was established in 2006 by Nordea's Norrland Foundation and is awarded to prominent researchers at Luleå University of Technology. The prize amount is 100,000 SEK.
Use AI to develop their business
– Nordea is the largest financial actor on the Nordic market and we see it as both an opportunity and an obligation to be at the forefront in terms of technological innovations and solutions. An important part of this is to use artificial intelligence to develop our business. Therefore, it feels extremely relevant and very valuable to give Nordea Science Prize 2019 to a world-leading researcher in this field. I look forward to Marcus continuing research, says Anna Edin, Nordea Market Area Manager.
The prize committe consists of the Market Area Manager at Nordea’s branch office in Luleå, the Vice-Chancellor and Deans at Luleå University of Technology.
