The wooden prize is a prize that is awarded at regular intervals. The purpose of the award is to market Skellefteå as a national timber town and thereby promote an offensive development of the region's business life in the wood area.
The prize is awarded by the Träenigheten foundation, whose task is to promote research, development and education, among other things by arranging events with wood in focus.
Dick Sandberg, professor of wood technology at Luleå University of Technology, comments on the winner Margot Sehlstedt-Persson with the words:
Versatile, creative, ambitious, responsible and collegial. In her academic career, Margot entered as a high school engineer, not really accepted in the academy, and came out as an associate professor, acclaimed for her work by both academia and industry.
