The course consists of three days of lectures and laboratory exercises followed by home assignments.
The course is suitable for doctoral students who have no previous education in the field of machine elements. The course content includes how a machine is designed and how machines can be analyzed by simple calculations based on statics and dynamics.
A number of important machine elements are introduced, and it is described both how these are working as individual components and how they interact in a machine.
Fundamental tribology, mainly from an engineering aspect, is also covered in the course.
The students should know about; 1. How a machine is designed, 2: How different machine elements are interacting in a machine, and 3: Fundamental machine tribology
The course will be in the form of lectures mixed with laboratory exercises followed by home assignments based on the material given in the course.
Home assignment reports and quizzes.
Grading scale: Pass/Fail.
