Sjors Weggeman

About me

I grew up in the Netherlands where I got my Bachelor's degree in Artificial Intelligence at Radboud University, Nijmegen and my Master's degree in Voice Technology at the University of Groningen. After my studies I worked for nearly two years as a Junior Researcher in Computer Vision & Data Science at NHL Stenden University of Applied Sciences in Leeuwarden.

Being raised in an internationally oriented manner, I would have loved to go abroad during my studies. Due to the pandemic, however, I was unable to do this. So when the opportunity to do a PhD program at LTU presented itself, I logically took up a position on Sustainable Machine Learning in October 2025.

Outside of work, I enjoy a large variety of sports, including, but not limited to: volleyball, bouldering, squash and padel. Furthermore, I enjoy playing (board)games, reading, and being in nature.
