CANCELLED: World-leading X-ray affects the wood industry of the future
This lecture is cancelled and will be given during the autumn of 2021.
Increased use of wood as a building material is crucial to achieving the global sustainability goals. Lars Hansson, new professor of Wood Science and Engineering, talks about how they map the properties of wooden logs through scanning and its significance for the development of the wood industry of the future.
In 2021, a new state-of-the-art tomograph (CT scanner) will be delivered to the university area in Skellefteå and will complement the one that has been there since 2008. Together with the existing climate system, the researchers can do advanced wood studies. The facility gives the university a leading position, both nationally and internationally, in log scanning, drying, heat treatment, moisture dynamics and modification, and is of great importance for the wood industry of the future.
