Asteroids named after LTU researchers

Two asteroids located in the Main Asteroid Belt has been named Toliou and Tsirvoulis in recognition of Luleå University of Technology’s space researchers Athanasia Toliou and Georgios Tsirvoulis.

New findings on the history of asteroids

Asteroids can be more porous than expected. In-situ measurements of the asteroid Ryugu suggest a mix of materials of various porosities originated in different places, possibly in different parts of a bigger planetary body. – Our findings might help future technological solutions to deflect asteroids from Earth, says Axel Hagermann, Professor of Atmospheric Science at Luleå University of Technology.

Exoplanets studied were similar to Earth

Researchers in Atmospheric Science at Luleå University of Technology have developed a new way to determine habitability of exoplanets. By studying the atmospheres of the planets, they found at least 45 exoplanets with Earth-like properties.
