Major fundings for construction research

Luleå University of Techlogy´s research groups in Construction Engineering and Management and Urban Water Engineering received 45 million SEK from the targeted Formas Research Funding program Sustainable Building and Planning with a total of 140 million SEK. Co-financing from organizations and industry partners will be.

"This is of course very inspiring and encouraging. It also shows that our research is appreciated and needed", says Thomas Olofsson, Professor in Construction Engineering and Management.

Three of the projects went to the Urban Water Engineering group; Efficient stormwater treatment - Where? When? How?, Stormwater biofilter: from standard solutions to developed technology solutions that are adapted to the Swedish conditions and  *Anonymous sources*: Identification and characterization of sources of diffuse pollution spread with urban stormwater

The two other projects went to researchers in Construction Engineering and Management; Reducing Pollutant Emissions from Construction: an International Research Project and to the research group in Entrepreneurship and Innovation for Public procurement strategies for sustainable development in the infrastructure sector.

"We have a well-developed cooperation with business and industry within the VA technology where we are in the competence network Dag&Nät, says Maria Viklander, Professor in Urban Water Engineering.

All the above projects are included in the Luleå University's Areas of excellence in research and innovation - Attractive built environment.
