We are working towards creating a green cool experimental datacenter facility as a research hub for development of innovative ideas. It is also for collaborations between leading academia and industry within the field. The datacenter research infrastructure will provide a state-of-the-art datacenter facility, adaptable for research needs, as well as a creative work environment with office space and meeting places built on green and climate-friendly technologies.
The challange will be to build a facility for future research, i.e. we don't know what projects will use the facility and we need to be visionary. The building and its infrastructure have to be flexible, general, robust, manageable and future-proof. We have to envision future projects and technologies and translate them into a general technical specification that will guide the design.
To achieve all this, there will be four workshops, two held in Luleå (one for researchers and one for companies) and two in Stockholm.

- We invite you to become a partner and an influencer contributing at workshops to help envision the future of this facility.
- We want you to be speculative, visionary, demanding and challenging!
If you are ready to take on this challenge with us, we want you to prepare a 1-page description, for the upcoming workshop, with an exemplifying future study, experiment, test or implementation you could be interested to perform. The study and challenge should be described (aim, methodology). The need of equipment such as power gears, cooling equipment, communication boxes, server types, measurement equipment, analysis tools both software and hardware, connections, prototype builds, other hardware needed, building functionality, etc. would be attached to the extent you like. The more relevant your content, the more you will influence the layout of the initial requirement of the datacenter test facility.
The Workshop content
- Introduction of our mission with the DC test facility
- Division into working groups
- Presentations of your suggested research visions
- Structured collection of future lab needs, based on all your preparation and the discussions.
- Each group is supported by process experts
All notes and your material will be used for continued work after the workshop by facility experts translating them into technical requirements. All input material will only be made available for the team preparing for the datacenter test facility. If NDAs are necessary please provide it beforehand.
