HABIT summer Tour in Luleå

This summer Luleå city will have a very special experience related to Mars. After several months of tour around Sweden, sharing space science in places like Umeå, Uppsala or Goteborg, the HABIT Tour come home from Malmö University to be in Luleå city during the summer season and continue spreading the Mars passion.

From the 10th to 13th of July, the HABIT Tour will be part of the Hamnfestivalen. The HABIT installation (5) will be located in “stadtsparken” and will be complemented with a hands-on workshop called “Create your own Martian instrument” for all kind of audiences on July 13th from 11:00 to 17:00.  Space engineers from the Group of Atmospheric Science of the Luleå University of Technology will inspire people with the most recent Mars research and prototyping. Some of the engineers who have participated on HABIT testing and calibration will take part in this event. HABIT is a space instrument that will fly in July next year in the ExoMars 2020 mission. The Luleå Hamnfestivalen is one of the largest public events in North Region of Sweden. During the four summer days in July, 130,000 people gather in central Luleå. The honorary orders are food, music, diversity and family. There is music, dance and activities in close proximity to every street corner.

HABIT Tour will continue “flying high” this time welcoming the passengers who arrive this summer to Luleå airport. The installation will be located on the airport lobby from July 15th to the end of August. It is a special cooperation between GAS-LTU and Swedavia airports to spread this summer the space culture of the northern part of the country with all the new arrivals or travellers in general.

Next, the HABIT tour will visit, for a long stay, The National Space Centre in Leicester, in United Kingdom and will also be part of the New Scientist Festival in London. The HABIT Tour will finish its first edition again in the Luleå Library, getting ready to continue its next tour during 2020.
