Luleå University of Technology organized an innovation day at Vetenskapens hus with over 130 applicants from, among others, Tillväxtverket, the Region, business managers in Norrbotten's municipalities, Vattenfall and entrepreneurs in, the IT industry and the mining sector.
The student consultants would help Nordic Quick Systems with a product development assignment. In just nine weeks, they came up with a solution that beat everyone's expectations. Now a prototype of the concept is being developed and a launch in the market is already planned for 2020. LTU Business Summer, as the concept is called, led to Nordic Quick Systems making a big leap towards their goals.
It can be crucial to get clear early on what will be required in time and resources to bring a new product to market. Many models for market validation of ideas often turn to startups or large companies, but LTU Business's own developed Innovation Due Diligence lands equally well with established companies that are new to product ideas and innovations they want to bring to the market.
Andreas Lindström, CEO of Lindströms Transport, describes how LTU Business Growth Academy gave insights and tools that led to immediate effect. One year after the course, they have appointed an external board and initiated a new strategic framework.
From research lab to test bed. The underground Äspö laboratory, Sweden, has been a center for research related to safe disposal of nuclear fuel for more than 30 years. As the energy sector is shifting to renewable sources, its owners sees an opportunity to reinvent the SEK four billion facility into a commercial test bed. LTU Business is developing a business strategy aimed at the mining, construction and geo-energy industries.
Johan Bergström, business developer at LTU Business, can now call himself a certified innovation leader. Johan is one of the first in Sweden and the first certified innovation leader north of Sundsvall. The certification has been initiated by the industry organization Innovation Leaders and is being implemented by RISE.
