Best PhD Supervisor 2013

Jurate Kumpiene, Waste Science and Technology, recieved the PhD Students Award for commendable mentoring efforts in the graduate program 2013.

- It's incredibly nice to know that graduate students appreciate my efforts in their graduate studies. I am very grateful to my students for the amazing gift I have received, says Jurate.


Jurate is a shining example of a successful researcher and dedicated teacher. She is an example of an excellent tutor who always cares about her students and teach them to be motivated, strong and independent team players and researchers. Jurate shares her knowledge with the students whenever it is desired, but also adds the importance for graduate students to be creative, inquisitive and critical in everything they do.

Additionally she encourages her students to build their own international network by attending conferences to present their work and make new contacts.

The Technology Student Organisation´s Award for PhD Instructors

The prize was created in 2008 by the Student Union in cooperation with the PhD student association at LTU, is being awarded for the fourth year. The prize will reward and promote particularly good efforts in research studies. All graduate students at the university have the right to nominate and the winner is selected by a jury of The Technology Student Organisation´s  Chairman and three graduate students.
