The main outcome of the project will be a marketable product manufactured using the innovative cleantech technology and equipment for its production. Hence, the project will provide a product and related service for the market of environmental remediation technologies. The results will have applicability both at local and international levels, for privately owned (mining, manufacturing) and public (remediation of natural resources) sectors.

"We will also develop a commercial product with low production cost and wide application in respect of different types of pollutants in both large and small scale", says Jurate Kumpiene, Professor in Waste Science and Technology at Luleå University of Technology.
The project "Decontamination of polluted groundwaters using peat activated with iron compounds" is funded by Vinnova within the EU Eurostars Programme and implemented together with the Lithuanian company Rekin and the Swedish company Geogen.
