The aim of the current project is to develop a novel applied technology for the capture of CO2 from industrial flue gases and the bioelectrochemical conversion of the captured CO2 to liquid hydrocarbons such as formic acid. The work involves using enzymes that are stable under extreme conditions and microorganisms which can exploit renewable electricity for the synthesis of higher organic chemicals from CO2.
