Increase of supply of battery minerals by flotation of REE-rich apatite (BAT-PLUS)
EIT RawMaterials FAST TRACK 2020
BAT-PLUS Increases the impact of the ongoing KAVA project BATTERFLAI by demonstrating a novel selective sustainable flotation process for the efficient concentration of REE-rich apatite needed for the recovery of rare earth elements where today, 95% of the world's total production comes from mines in China. These metals are crucial for the production of computer processors, flat-screen monitors, cellular phones and batteries. based on total replacement of fatty acids obtained from nonsustainable feedstocks with biobased environmentally friendly, biodegradable, low-carbon footprint hydrophobic organosolv lignin in the form of fine- and nano-particles (OLN).
