Discussion about Digitalization, Robotization, and Automation in Construction

Published: 22 February 2023

Tomas Carlsson, President, and CEO at NCC, visited LTU to discuss digitization, robotization and automation in construction, and at the same time monitoring the latest research on AI.

A challenge in the construction sector consists of how to use digital technology to catalyst sustainable change in the built environment. The discussion on digitization, robotization and automation was based on challenges and opportunities that exist in the sector as a whole and at individual construction companies such as NCC.

An important discussion was how the projects can identify scalable and viable ecosystems that have an opportunity to create value for construction companies, and what obstacles there are to the application of AI and basic questions like ‘who’ owns the data.

In addition to talks Jarkko Erikshammar presented preliminary results from the Smart Built Environment projects DigiTransform and Automated Productivity Measurements for Construction Projects.
