Published: 5 September 2019

Researcher Kajsa Simu, adjunct lecturer in the Division of Industrialized and Sustainable Construction at Luleå University of Technology, managing NCC's test bed in the Vinnova project Connected construction site, where the work is entering a new phase with a focus on increased safety and communication.

Together with 3M Peltor, NCC's test bed focuses on increasing safety and communication in the human-machine interface. In this development project function and needs of the users are central and with methods for implementation and evaluation, we take innovations to a new level in the construction sector.

"The work with test beds within the framework of the Vinnova project Connected construction site, gives companies from different industries the opportunity to jointly develop and find new applications of digital technology", says Kajsa Simu, researcher at the Division of Industrialized and Sustainable Construction at Luleå University of Technology.

"It is invaluable for us to reach out to the users of our products as we develop - to understand their needs and everyday challenges", says Kristina Gustafsson, who leads the project from Peltor 3M.

During the autumn and winter, new equipment will be tested at NCC's workplace at Korsvägen, a part of the West Link Project of Gothenburg. The evaluation will cover both technology and the innovation process as well as the effects on security, communication and productivity as the new digital technology.
