- Computer game development is a new area where we previously exported a lot of knowledge to south of Sweden. Now we see an opportunity for the industry to grow locally so that we can maintain the skills, says Robert Brännström, Head of the division Computer Science at Luleå University of Technology.
Helene Hellmark Knutsson was given the opportunity to meet students from the Bachelor Programme in Computer Engineering that have contucted development projects together with the local gaming industry.
- The visit shows that we have activities related to collaboration and innovations that are relevant. We also talked about the computer game initiative between the region's municipalities and about Luleå University of Technology contribution to developing computer game innovations in northern Sweden, says Robert Brännström.
The visit took place when the government's National Innovation Council held a regional meeting in Skellefteå to discuss how the national innovation policy can be developed to strengthen Sweden's competitiveness. At the meeting, the Prime Minister Stefan Löfven, Minister for Enterprise and Innovation Mikael Damberg, Västerbotten County Governor Magdalena Andersson and Luleå University of Technology, Professor Erik Höglund, took part.
