054 GIS-based risk inventory of railway lines

Published: 8 February 2017

A GIS solution for the inventory of the track's immediate vicinity with respect to risk objects in the derailment.

The aim is to develop GIS-based solution for inventorying route with respect to the risk objects in the track's immediate vicinity. The solution will be demonstrated at the distance that is included in the CPT and the risk of rate reduction. The results will be used as input to the developed method for risk assessment of rail failure and derailment applied to the web portions 124, 814 and 815th

The project aims to develop and implement a GIS-based solution for risk inventory of the railway section. The solution will be used by the Swedish Transport Administration and other stakeholders in the decision, for example, engineering, maintenance, reinvestment, investment, etc.

results Description

Deliveries is a GIS solution for the inventory of the track's immediate vicinity with respect to risk objects in the derailment, and a memo describing the solution. The solution enables efficient and effective inventory of the route with respect to the risk objects in the derailment. The solution can be used by the Swedish Transport Administration and other stakeholders in the decision, for example, engineering, maintenance, reinvestment, investment, etc. The new approach to risk assessment takes into account not only the probability of derailment (eg, based on plant status and traffic), but also the track's immediate vicinity, which also includes the consequences of a derailment. This provides more relevant risk (probability and consequence) to prioritize activities in the plant.
