Prof. Dr. Jay Lee, IMS Center, USA

Dr. Jay Lee

Dr. Jay Lee is Vice Chairman and Board Member of Foxconn Technology Group. Prior to this position, he served as Vice Chairman of Foxconn Industrial Internet.  Currently, he is on leave from Univ. of Cincinnati where he holds Ohio Eminent Scholar and L.W. Scott Alter Chair Professor and is the founding director of National Science Foundation (NSF) Industry/University Cooperative Research Center (I/UCRC) on Intelligent Maintenance Systems (www.imscenter.net) which was a multi-university Center including the Univ. of Cincinnati, Univ. of Michigan and Univ. of Texas Austin. In addition, he is the Founding Director of Industrial AI Center (www.iaicenter.com ).   

He also serves as a member of the Global Future Council on Advanced Manufacturing and Production of the World Economics Forum (WEF) as well as a member of Board of Governors of the Manufacturing Executive Leadership Council of National Association of Manufacturers (NAM) to engage the global leaders for the development of collaborative activities in smart manufacturing.

Previously, he served as senior advisor to McKinsey & Company.  Prior to his academic career, he served as Director for Product Development and Manufacturing at United Technologies Research Center (UTRC) as well as Program Directors for a number of programs at NSF. He was selected as 30 Visionaries in Smart Manufacturing in by SME in Jan. 2016 and 20 most influential professors in Smart Manufacturing in June 2020. His new book on Industrial AI was published by Springer in 2020.

Prof. Dr. Pierre Dersin, Alstom, France

Prof. Dersin Pierre

After graduating (BS) from Brussels University, P.Dersin studied at Massachusetts Institute of Technology  (as a CRB fellow from  the Belgian-American Educational Foundation) , where he obtained first a MS in Operations Research, then a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering ( specialty in Control Engineering) under Prof. Michael Athans. As a Research Assistant in the MIT Laboratory for Information & Decision Systems (LIDS), he worked on  the Large Scale System Effectiveness Analysis Program sponsored by the US Department of Energy; then, with FABRICOM (Belgium), Tractebel group,  as a senior engineer involved with fault diagnostic systems for factory automation. He also set up and ran Fabricom’s US subsidiary. Since 1990, Dr. Dersin has been with Alstom (St-Ouen, France), mainly active in Reliability Engineering and Maintenance of Railway Systems.  In particular, he founded there the “RAM Center of Excellence”. He has also been involved with a number of collaborative R&D programs and has been since 2014 the co-director of the Alstom-Inria Laboratory for Digital Mobility. He started Alstom’s Predictive Maintenance Program, in 2015, and hired the first data scientists at Alstom.

He is currently Prognostics & Health Management (PHM) Director in Alstom’s Digital & Integrated Systems Division. Since 2019, Pierre Dersin has been Adjunct Professor of Operations & Maintenance at LTU, active in particular in the AIF/R ( Artificial Intelligence Factory – Railways) project.

He is the author of many publications in Reliability, Automatic Control, and Power Systems , including four chapters in the “Handbook of RAMS in Railways: Theory & Practice” (CRC Press,Taylor & Francis),2018.

Pierre Dersin is a member of the IEEE Reliability Society AdCom and leads the Technical Committee on Systems of Systems. He is also a member of the IEEE Digital Reality Initiative (DRI) committee.

Prof. Olga Fink has been assistant professor of intelligent maintenance systems at ETH Zürich since October 2018. She is also a research affiliate at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and an Expert of the Innosuisse, Swiss Innovation Agency, in the field of Information and Communication Technology. Prof. Olga’s research focuses on Hybrid Algorithms Fusing Physical Performance Models and Deep Learning Algorithms, Transfer Learning, Self-Supervised Learning, Deep Reinforcement Learning and Multi-Agent Systems for Intelligent Maintenance of Infrastructure and Complex Assets

Lt Gen Anil Kapoor, AVSM, VSM superannuated as Director General Electronics and Mechanical Engineering on 31 Dec 2020. The General is an alumni of the prestigious National Defence Academy, Pune, Indian Military Academy, Dehradun, Defence Services Staff College, Wellington, Army War College, Mhow and National Defence College, New Delhi. A Gold Medalist both in B Tech (Electronics) and Master of Engineering (Mechanical), M Sc in Defence Studies, M Phil in Strategic Management of Technology and is an expert in Radars, Guided Missiles, MRO asset management and condition based monitoring of assets. He is presently pursuing his Ph D and defended his Thesis on Defence Industrial Base as a Key Determinant of Capability Building and Capacity Development of India.  The four decades long journey that followed in military service bears testimony to maturation of his experience in military leadership, technology and innovation management, equipment management, change management, organizational behavior, ingenious administration and human resource management  in diverse and challenging environments. The General has  also been  Director General Information Systems, been on two UN Peacekeeping Assignments as Senior Logistics Officer in Angola and Deputy Chief Integrated Support Services in Sudan on deputation to UN for two years, managed operational logistics in J & K  Operation Vijay during the  Kargil war, Operation Parakram and recently engineering support planning for Operation Snow Leopard in Eastern Ladakh in 2020. As a Brigadier he was Dean of Faculty of Industrial Engineering and Tactics in Military College of EME and  as a Major General EME in Northern Command, he implemented MRO Engineering Support Philosophy and Practices which has become a best practice in the Corps of EME. As DGEME he initiated the process of Industrial Automation to Autonomy, IA2IA, for the first time  in Army Base Workshops of the Indian Army through condition based  monitoring systems. The General was awarded Ati Vishisht Seva Medal (AVSM) on  26 Jan 2020,  Vishisht Seva Medal (VSM) on 26 Jan 2004 by the President of India for rendering distinguished service of an exceptional order and General Officer Commanding In Chief Central Command Commendation for  displaying outstanding professionalism technical brilliance beyond the call of duty. A Chartered Engineer, he was  awarded  the Eminent Engineer Award 2020 on 15 Sep 2020 by Institution of Engineers, India for outstanding professional contributions in engineering and displaying technical brilliance. He is a Master Class Independent Director and member of Institute of Directors and Indian Institute of Corporate Affairs.

Mia ILKKO is Chair  for Swedish Maintenance Society. She is Director of European Federation of National Maintenance Societies as well as senior consultant Maintenance Management in Trivalo AB. She is certified European Expert in Maintenance Management. She is Working as a domain expert within Maintenance Management and is constantly improving maintenance businesses, focusing on the use of CMMS:s (Computorised Maintenance Management Systems).

Dr. Peter Söderholm

Peter Söderholm has worked with research, development and standardisation in the areas of dependability, quality and risk as civil servant for more than 20 years. The main application area is currently railway infrastructure and earlier military aircraft. Peter has a PhD in operation and maintenance engineering and is associate and adjunct professor in quality technology at Luleå university of technology (LTU). Currently Peter is working in the “Program upgrade railway” at Trafikverket (Swedish transport administration) with focus on a roadmap for Swedish railway 2050, participate in research with LTU and standardisation within the Swedish technical committee for dependability (SEK TC 56).
