Division of Operation & Maintenance Engineering at Luleå University of Technology hosted an international conference on ‘Industrial AI’ and its application in maintenance, IAI 2021, October 6-7 2021, Luleå, Sweden and on-line due to the pandemic situation. The conference was organised on the AI Factory platform at Luleå University of Technology in collaboration with COMADEM International.
“One the most memorable outcome from the conference was about the insight that it is all about the sustainable performance management of the asset, and not the health management of the individual components," says Ramin Karim, professor in Operation and Maintenance Engineering at Luleå University of Technology.
The IAI2021 programme included keynote speakers from both industry, government, and academia from different parts of the world. The conference was attended by more than 100 registered participants and over 40 technical papers were presented from 15 countries. The next IAI-event is planned to be organised during 6-8th June 2023.
“The presentations from the industry and academia emphasised that research approach of ‘AI Factory’ is timely and relevant, and will facilitate sustainable performance management of the engineering assets and infrastructure. It was also emphasised that the focus should be on the function of the asset, and not on the health management of the individual components," says Uday Kumar, professor and Head of Subject in Operation and Maintenance Engineering at Luleå University of Technology.
As presented in the conference, the coming book on AI Factory – Theories, Concepts, and Use Cases will provide some examples of best practices from industries and roadmap for implementation of artificial intelligence in industrial contexts.
