International Conference on the Mining Industry

Hundreds of representatives from industry and academics from more than 22 countries participated in the MPES 2017 conference organized by Luleå University of Technology and was held in Luleå. The agenda was new technology and equipment for a more sustainable mining industry in the world.

This was the 26th time this major international scientific conference - MPES, My Planning and Equipment Selection - was held.

"This was a great opportunity for researchers, industry and consultants in the mining industry from all over the world, to exchange experiences and develop the mines of the future so that mining becomes more sustainable, safer and better as a working environment," says Uday Kumar, Professor of Operational and Maintenance Technology at Luleå Technical university.

The Swedish mining industry, with companies like LKAB and Boliden, is at the forefront of technology, sustainability and the working environment.
