Imperial College London, Luleå University of Technology and SKF participated in the first european conference on the improvement in bearing technology through european research collaboration. The entire group is pictured here.
PhD students from Imperial College London and LTU like Sergio Martin Del Campo Barraza (pictured) presented their work as part of the conference. The goal of this conference was to provide a simple medium for the transfer of knowledge between the two University Technology Centers in London and Luleå. This way, students can better understand what research is being done so that any potential collaboration could be found. Also, representatives of SKF were asked to attend so that they can learn about the research that the different UTCs are working on.
A mini-course was given after the conference to provide an exchange of knowledge from the expertise of SKF's researchers and employees. The course covered topics such as bearing design, bearing wear, bearing failure and more advanced technologies including various condition monitoring techniques used in industry. Also, SKF's product line and current/future research goals were presented.
