Investigating possibilities to produce drop-in biofuels from a partial stream of black liquor (BL) in kraft pulp mills – special focus on petrol components

Different technology tracks are studied based on 1) lignin liquefaction/hydrotreatment and 2) BL gasification/synthesis via methanol-to-gasoline

Evaluation of:
1) the biofuel production (costs, greenhouse gases (GHG), production potential, technology maturity)
2) effects on the pulp production from debottlenecking the recovery boiler
