Dissertation in Solid Mechanics – Stefan Marth
On November 23, 2021, Stefan Marth presented his doctoral thesis on the subject of Solid Mechanics at Luleå University of Technology
The thesis is entitled “An Approach on Material Model Calibration for Modelling of Sheet Metal Deformation and Failure"
Opponent: Professor Odd Sture Hopperstad, NTNU, Trondheim, Norway
Supervisor: Hans-Åke Häggblad
Assistant Supervisor: Mats Oldenburg, Jörgen Kajberg
Project: OPTUS III, FormPlanet and NEXTCOMP
Stefan presents in his thesis an effective and efficient method to characterize the deformation and failure of sheet metals using DIC interpretation to avoid spending time doing inverse modeling. Based on the results of this method plasticity and fracture models can be calibrated for different elements lengths and used for advanced forming and component performance simulations. This method can reduce time and costs during the development processes of new materials and products.
