Innovative inclusion in the civil society working life

This research project aims to increase knowledge about efforts by Swedish civil society organizations to promote an inclusive working life, in terms of social innovation. This includes new methods for creating job opportunities and improving the working conditions for disadvantaged groups.


Sweden's 250 000 civil society organizations have almost 200 000 employees and 4 million volunteers. The academic knowledge on the civil society working life is however scarce. A currently relevant concern is the contribution of civil society organizations to an inclusive and diverse working life. Specifically in regard to their innovative measures for improved inclusion of disadvantaged groups, through employment, volunteering, internship, vocational training, etc.
