
Honorary doctor and sound engineer Bruce Swedien is dead
The American sound engineer Bruce Swedien is dead. He worked with producer Quincy Jones on several of Michael Jackson's albums. He also worked with jazz legends such as Count Basie, Duke Ellington and Dinah Washington. He was awarded an honorary doctorate at Luleå University of Technology in 2001.
– Bruce Swedien was an inspiration for several generations of sound engineers and music producers, so also for us at the Academy of Music in Piteå at Luleå University of Technology, where his masterclass brought together professionals from all over the country. His production is impressive and shows his skill in adapting and developing technology to create recordings with a fantastic sound. Bruce Swedien's knowledge and warm personality have made a great impression on the music world and we are many who will miss him, says Jan Berg, assistant professor of sound technology at the Academy of Music in Piteå at Luleå University of Technology.
