International award for ProMine

At the Conference, the Industrial Technologies 2014 in Athens the project ProMine recieved the 1st Prize Award for best completed projects launched under the EU Framework Programme for industrial technology.

The ceremony was glorious with about 700 persons there and the award was handed to Juha Kaija and GTK´s Research Director Pekka Nurmi by Clara de la Torre, Director of the DG Research and Innovation.

Selection of the best was made by the European Advisory Group which consisted of distinguished experts representing policy, industry and research organizations. Finalists were selected based on the submissions to the open call, the main criteria being the results the projects have achieved and their commercial results.

Luleå University of Technology and Professor Pär Weihed led Work package 2 about 3 - and 4-dimensional modeling of European iron ore fields.
