2nd Workshop on High Temperature Tribology
- Mechanisms and Control of Friction & Wear

Luleå University of Technology, Luleå, Sweden, March 18, 2013

There are numerous moving machine assemblies in power generation, aerospace, petrochemical, metal working and other industrial sectors which operate at elevated temperatures. Friction and wear are of vital importance in determining the efficiency, durability, reliability and robustness of tribological systems in these applications. The high temperature tribological processes are highly complex and the need for both fundamental and applied research in this field is being increasingly felt.

The forthcoming workshop is in continuation to the 1st successful High Temperature Workshop held at Luleå in December 2009.  The workshop is held in conjunction with the 3rd International Tribology Symposium of IFToMM in Luleå on 19 – 21 March 2013.

As before, the workshop aims at bringing together researchers and practicing technologists in the field to interact and exchange their latest results in this emerging research area. Topics to be covered during this workshop will include: high temperature friction and wear mechanisms and modelling; lubrication at elevated temperatures; tribological materials and surface modification technologies to control friction and wear at high temperatures; tribotesting and other related issues.

We warmly invite you to participate in this 2nd Workshop on High temperature Tribology. Your contribution in the form of an article or case study on any topic relevant to the Workshop theme will be greatly appreciated.

Offers of contributions to the workshop, which include the title, names of authors and their affiliation and a brief synopsis of the contribution should be submitted to Dr. Jens Hardell by 31st October 2012.
