Tribologists from Sweden and China met at SCST-2
The second edition of the Sweden-China Symposium on Tribology, SCST-2, was conducted with great success at Luleå University of Technology. China’s leading tribologists visited the conference, hosted by the Division of Machine Elements. The purpose of the conference is to expand cooperation between tribology researchers in Europe and China.
– It was a very rewarding conference. It is interesting to learn more about which tribological problems our Chinese colleagues are working on. They presented exciting tribology research in areas such as space technology, high-speed trains, medical technology and manufacturing technology. Researchers from Finland, Austria, England and Sweden were also invited, which further contributed to a very successful meeting, says Conference Chair Roland Larsson, Professor at Luleå University of Technology.
SCST-2 was arranged together with the Lanzhou Institute of Chemical Physics, the Chinese Academy of Sciences since Associate Professor Yijun Shi had established close collaboration with them during the past years. The first conference took place in August 2018 in Lanzhou, China, and the collaboration, where the conference is a central part, will continue.
– We intend to continue with the conference and in the future we aim to make the exchange bilateral between Europe and China.
