Andrew Spencer and Leonardo Pelcastre have graduated after defending their dissertations. Marcus Björling recent results have caught the attention of the scientific journal Nature.

Andrew Spencer defended his thesis on Friday, 13 December 2013. The thesis was titled: A simulation tool for Optimising combustion engine cylinder liner surface texture.

Leonardo Pelcastre defended her thesis on Thursday, December 12 2013. The thesis was titled: High temperature galling: influencing parameters and mechanisms. LTU also did a press release on the occasion of the defense.

Marcus Björlings research into why the DLC coatings reduce friction in EHL contacts were highlighted during January in Nature. The LTU's website you can read about the results indicating that the reduced friction is due to a higher temperature in the oil film
