In 2008, the Swedish Research School in Tribology started with the aim to increase the number of doctors with international excellence. The program has been financed by VINNOVA and recently a closing seminar was being held as the support from VINNOVA ended in spring 2015, but the successful research school will continue.
Nowshir Fatima defended his doktorsavhanling with the theme: What happens to the gearbox when the system is contaminated by water? The thesis was presented October 24, 2014.
Joel Furustig defended his doktorsavhanlding entitled "Semi-deterministic numerical simulations of wear on various scales: From Chemo-Mechanical Effects to the wear of components in the orbital type hydraulic motor" December 9, 2014.
Andrew Spencer and Leonardo Pelcastre obtained their doctorates after defending their dissertations. Marcus Björling recent results have caught the attention of the scientific journal Nature.
The next course in the research school takes place on 28-30 of May at KTH. The course in question is Tribological components. A plan for upcoming courses is under way and will be available on the website shortly.
The annual tribology days will take place in Örnsköldsvik between 6 and 8 of november. A mini course will also be given for PhD students enrolled in the research school.
