GreenTRIBOS – New European Joint Doctorate in Sustainable Tribology

Published: 4 June 2019

Following the successful joint degree Master's program in Tribology, TRIBOS Master, the same consortium has now been approved by the EU research program Horizon2020, Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions (MSCA), to launch a European Joint Doctorate (EJD) in sustainable tribology “GreenTRIBOS”.

The research within the joint doctoral program is about developing new and sustainable materials and technologies that reduce energy consumption through reduced friction and wear.

– GreenTRIBOS application recived high marks from reviewer and we are very happy sbout that. We are happy to be able to expand our collaboration within TRIBOS consortium with new european and non-european external partiners in a new doctoral trainee grogram. After the successful TRIBOS Master collaboration, it was a natural step in contortium to apply for a doctoral trainee program whitin Horizon2020-MSCA-ITN-EJD, under the name “GreenTRIBOS”, says Professor Nazanin Emami, responsible for the part of the program given at Luleå University of Technology.

GreenTRIBOS consortium partners are; university of Ljublana (Slovenia) as coordinator, Coimbra University (Portugal), Leeds University (England) and Luleå University of Technology (Sweden). The four universities specialize in different areas of sustainable tribology.

– Focusing on sustainability through reduced friction and wear and the use of green lubricants is the fastest way to reduce energy consumption and emissions, thereby contribute to a better environment for all of us. GreenTRIBOS doctoral students will receive a multidicplinary European-class education and learn how to transfer scientific knowledge to industrial innovations, says Nazanin Emami.
