Gästföreläsningar om stål av Cambridge-professor

13 mar. 2018, 10:15 - 11:30
Luleå, E231
Publicerad: 9 mars 2018

Sir H.K.D.H. Bhadeshia,

TATA Steel Professor of Metallurgy at the University of Cambridge

Is visiting The Division of Materials Science at TVM, and he will give two lectures on Tuesday the 13th of March at 10.15 and 13.00 in the room E231.

The first lecture (10.15) is under the thematic of:

Displacive transformations in steels: mechanisms and consequences

The second lecture (13.00) will treat the area of:

Reconstructive transformations in steels: mechanisms and consequences

Abstract

The hope is to cover the most important solid-state phase transformations that occur in steels.

This includes atomic mechanisms, thermodynamics, kinetics, microstructural development and the design of steels, supported by specific case studies.

The material is introduced in sufficient detail to enable the quantitative design of steels based on the fundamental aspects described above.

After these two lectures, students will be expected to:

Understand the atomic mechanisms of solid-state phase transformations in steels

  • Know the consequences of the mechanisms of development of structure and properties
  • Have an understanding of the physical metallurgy of steels
  • Be confident in the systematic design of steels
