A new PhD in Mining and Rock Engineering
On the 20th of December Nikolaos Petropoulos successfully defended his thesis "Improved understanding of sublevel blasting: Determination of the extent of the compacted zone, its properties and the effects on caving".
His external examiner was Dr Lina M. López, Associate Professor at Universidad Politécnica de Madrid.
The members of his defence committee were:
Dr. Zongxian Zhang, Professor of Mining Engineering at Oulu University and Director of The Research Centre at Oulu Mining School.
Dr. Takis Katsabanis, Associate Professor at Queen’s University Canada and Head of the Robert M. Buchan department of Mining.
Dr. Peter Moser, Full Professor at Montanuniversitet Leoben and holds the Chair in Mining Engineering and Mineral Economics.
His project was financially supported by HLRC, LKAB and Swebrec.
