Budgetproposition positive for LTU

The government has now presented its budgetproposition - and for Luleå University of technology it looks very good. More people are choosing to study at Luleå University of Technology, and with the governments budgetproposition, Luleå University of Technology can adopt many new students next year.

- Right now, we have a very pleasant situation at Luleå University of Technology, says Vice Chancellor Johan Sterte.

Luleå University of Technology is also rewarded  for top marks by the evaluations made by the Swedish National Agency for Higher Education. The two courses that reward the top rating very high-quality in this evaluation is Master Economics and Master Programme in Information Security.  They get together over half a million swedish crones in extra resources.

- It is very pleasent that we have received this confirmation of the good quality, that we have long known that our training in economics has, and it will of course benefit the education, says Jan Johansson, head of the Department of Business Administration, Technology and Social Sciences.

At the Department of Computer Science, Electrical and Space Engineering, it is clear what to,  the government's extra resources will go.

- The money is welcome, but best of all was the evaluation results. The money  that the department receives because of the mark much high quality at Master Programme in Information Security. and  high quality of  Computer- and Systemsciences in the evaluation by the Swedish National Agency for Higher Education, will go to the research topic of Computer and Systems Sciences. There the money will be spent on professional development of teachers anddevelopment of research in the field, says Jonas Ekman, head of the Department of Computer Science, Electrical and Space Engineering.

Luleå University of Technology also gets the opportunity to accept more students at the education for National Engineers and nurses.

The Government´s promised money to the strategic research areas for mining, mineral, Steel Research, Sustainable Building, Forest Commodities, Biomass and Spaceresearch, with 700 million swedish crownes from 2013 to 2016, no exact sums of money is presented  to Luleå University of Technology.

Government researchproposal will be presented in mid-October.
