High quality on teacher education programmes

Published: 2 February 2021

Two teacher education programmes have been assessed to have high quality by the Universitetskanslerämbetet, UKÄ. A review revealed that the syllabi needed to be clarified.
– We already had it in the courses, but we needed to write it down, says Åsa Bjuhr, Faculty Programme Director at Luleå University of Technology.

It was in 2018 and 2019 that UKÄ carried out an evaluation of the basic teacher degree and the preschool teacher degreee at 68 educations in Sweden.
At Luleå University of Technology, it was about basic teacher degree, specialization preschool class and grades 1-3 and basic teacher degree and 4-6, both are distance educations.
– It turned out that we needed to clarify in our documents, what was already included at classroom level, says Åsa Bjuhr, senior lecturer, who was then a teacher, but today is a Faculty Programme Director.
