Published: 5 July 2022

Simon Matti, Professor of Political Science, has been awarded the 2022 Håkan Frisingers Prize for Transport Research by the Volvo Research and Education Foundation (VREF). In addition to the personal prize money, the prize means that Simon Matti will be a guest researcher at Chalmers University of Technology during parts of the autumn semester 2022.

The personal price includes SEK 300,000. Chalmers University of Technology will be awarded SEK 500,000 within the framework of VREF's guest research program, which will finance Simon Matti's stay there. The motivation from the board of Håkan Frisinger's foundation reads:

“Simon Matti's research concerns strategy and policy for climate and the environment, which is very relevant for the field of transport research. Prof. Matti focuses on general political attitudes, political legitimacy and political behavior, and also has well-documented experience of interdisciplinary research. His strong scientific track record is combined with a strong teaching and supervision record at various levels (bachelor's degree, master's degree and doctoral degree), and he has shown the ability to research communication and implement research results that lead to societal impact.”

The guest research program at Chalmers University of Technology will provide good opportunities for fruitful interdisciplinary collaborations. According to the foundation, Simon Matti's knowledge of general political attitudes and behavioral economics will contribute to research on transport and mobility, in particular with regard to consumption patterns and adaptation to new conditions.
