PhD student receives international award

Published: 22 August 2016

Jens Nilsson, PhD student in Political Science at Luleå University of Technology, has been awarded the 2015 Early Stage Career Research Prize for his article Local Political Decision-Making: A Case of Rationality or appropriateness?

The award is given by Routledge and the magazine Local Government Studies.

Can you tell us what the research is all about?

– The article is based on a survey made in the context of municipal and county council survey (KOLFU). It examines how politicians at the local level takes decisions on the basis of two competing principles of representation, trust law and the party law, and evaluates the underlying theoretical discussions about what explains this decision.

How does it feel to receive an award like this?

– Very funny! It was unexpected, but gives a great motivation for the autumn and spring's upcoming article works.
