Fluid Mechanics

Common for the projects is that the scale is relatively large and it is therefore of interest to study the effect of the scale on overall flow fields and the modelling of them. Main areas of applications are hydropower and mining industries.
Flow through porous media is of importance in many natural and industrial processes. This is reflected by a rather large number of projects within this area dealing with mechanical and chemical filtration, drying, deformation of the porous media and high Reynolds number flow.
Most industrial processes have elements of multiphase flows. In our case we deal with suspensions of different concentrations (dilute, semi-dilute and concentrated) flowing at different Reynolds number. We also model combustion.
A special branch of multiphase flow is free surface flow with application to, for instance, flow in rivers, flow in open channels and wetting flow during composites manufacturing.
