Collaboration with South Korea

Professor Staffan Lundström's research Group in Fluid Mechanics has partnered with Professor Hwang Wook Ryol at Gyeongsang National University in Jinju, South Korea. There he belongs to the division School of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering.

– The collaboration with Gyeongsang National University is important for us given their long experience in modeling and simulation of particle flows. It is through conferences that we first got to know each other, says Staffan Lundström.

Ryol Wook Hwang visited the University a few days where he and Staffan Lundström discussed cooperation within modeling of internal erosion. He also held a seminar entitled Development of bioreactor for animal cell culture with enhanced mixing performance. Ryol Wook Hwang was pleased with his stay and he appreciated the John Field Laboratory.

– The conditions for experimental research is very good at Luleå University of Technology. The infrastructure is world-class, says Wook Hwang Ryol.

Shortly after Wook Hwang Ryol's visit, one of his graduate students came to Luleå University of Technology, Jingang Lu. He has for some weeks been working together with Gunnar Hellström with modeling of flow in porous media.

– I especially want to thank Gunnar Hellström for being a good host. Everyone has been very nice and it was exciting to experience the snow here in Luleå, says Jingang Lu.
