Researchers in wood technology at Luleå University of Technology in Skellefteå has access to a unique CT-scanner combined with climate control. This allows for materials studies in situ in temperatures above 200 degrees.
A unique visualization center for education, technological development and demonstration. Here you can find a a "virtual barrel" that makes it possible to visit areas that would not be possible to visit in reality.
Here you can find a 3D laser scanner which is used to measure three-dimensional wooden structures in wooden bridges and wooden boats, and to measure the shape changes due to climatic stress on timber bridges.
These labs serve as a practical and scientific platform for knowledge development of wood materials. Here we create new wood-based materials and enhance the properties of already existing wood-based materials.
