New position paper on “Prioritisation of Emerging Contaminants in Urban Wastewater”

The EU’s directive on Urban Waste Water Treatment has been open for public consultation, for the commission to assess whether a revision of the directive is needed or not.

DRIZZLE contributed to this consultation, as Professor Lian Lundy, LTU is one of the authors of a position paper on prioritisation of emerging contaminants in urban wastewater. The position paper was developed as a joint NORMAN network

The position paper was developed as a joint NORMAN network and Water Europe initiative, and reflects the main conclusions of a workshop on “Prioritisation of Emerging Contaminants in Urban Wastewater”. The problems of Contaminants of Emerging Concerns in urban wastewater and stormwater runoff, together with the definition of quality criteria for water reuse are part of the priority topics under discussion at EU level in the context of the challenges posed by climate change and population growth.
