Small on-site sanitation systems - how sustainable are they?
Small on-site sanitation systems emit wastewater locally, which is why it is important that the systems meet the requirements for the release of organic material and nutrients and also meet the requirements for infection protection. Often, unfortunately, the small systems do not work as they should, and when facilities are to be upgraded or when new systems are to be built, this should be done with regard to sustainability.
