Swedish Water Research and Innovation days 2020
The Swedish Water annual Research and Innovation Conference was held on 8-9 December 2020. During the conference organized as a webinar due to the current situation, Swedish Water, the research funders and the four research clusters Stormwater&Sewers, DRICKS, VA-kluster Mälardalen and VA-teknik Södra presented the latest news in water research and development.

On day two, Stormwater&Sewers held a seminar and presented the breadth of the current ongoing projects within stormwater and sewer systems. Invited as speakers were Maria Viklander, Arya Vijayan, Snezana Gavric, Kelsey Flanagan, Emmanuel Okwori, Emelie Hedlund Nilsson, Godecke Blecken and Robert Furén presenting topics that spanned from i.a. occurrence and treatment of microplastics in traffic stormwater to organic pollutants of sediments in stormwater ponds, identification of influential factors increasing sewer blockages occurence, snow storage versus blue-green infrastructure in stormwater management in cold climates, accumulation and distribution of organic micropollutants in bioretention filter media and treatment of metals in grass swales. Last but not least, Annelie Hedström talked about the international cooperation in measuring SARS-Cov-2 in the sewer and what benefit we can have from that data.
