Interpolation of probing data for groundwater modelling

Frida Agerberg who has studied the master´s programme Natural Resource Engineering specializing in environment and water recently published her master’s thesis “Data interpolation for groundwater modelling - How choice of interpolation method and sample size affect the modelling results” that she had worked on during the spring semester 2020.

In her thesis, Frida investigated how hydrogeological results from groundwater models are affected by the choice of interpolation method and the sample size that the interpolation is based on. The hydrogeological modeling was performed in the GeoStudio software SEEP/W, which is commonly used in engineering work. The thesis contributes with important knowledge to improve the understanding of data collection and processing for groundwater modelling.

Frida will continue her professional career as a consultant within hydrogeology at Sweco in Umeå.

Jiechen Wu was supervisor for the thesis work and Maria Viklander was examiner. External supervisor was Jeffrey Lewis, Tyréns.
