Field of research
Jonathan Mattsson’s research interests are related to how changes to inputs in domestic wastewater can have an impact on the performance of sewer systems. Within the research cluster Stormwater&Sewers Mattsson has among other topics examined impacts on sewers due to rising levels of fats and grease, the introduction of food waste disposers as well as the installment of water saving appliances. He has also been involved in projects examining how blockages of sewers are being monitored by utilities and how infiltration/inflow into sewer systems can be quantified. In his recently published thesis Mattsson further discussed how the studied changes to inputs of wastewater can open up for different sewer designs and hence be aligned to larger societal objectives such as resource recovery and less need for centralized treatment.
