Unique collaboration for better work environment

Published: 22 August 2017

Engineers' knowledge of work, technology and the working environment will be better thanks to a new web education. It has been developed in a unique collaboration between Luleå University of Technology, Prevent and four other Swedish technical universities.

Those educated at technical universities have a lot of influence over the work environment in a number of ways when they get into work life.

– They are involved in developing technical systems and products that affect the work environment for others. How a screwdriver is designed can affect if the person using it at work gets load injuries, says Prevent's project manager Gunnar Lagerström in a press release.

Work and technology on human terms

The education "Work and Technology on Human Terms" is based on the book "Human Work and Techniques", which Prevent published for many years in collaboration with, among others, Luleå University of Technology.

The new education that is in english and web-based becomes more interactive and accessible.

– It has given us other educational opportunities. A large part of Sweden's research team has contributed expertise as we combined with reports and interviews from different environments outside the companies. We get a completely different link between theory and practice, says Gunnar Lagerström.

The training will be used on the engineering programs but is open to all. It can also be in education programs for, for example, economists and behavioral scientists.
