– It feels great that we receive a contribution from the Crown Princess Couple Foundation. It will enable us to continue developing the project and to disseminate good experiences and inspire more to follow, says Anna-Karin Lindqvist, physiotherapy scientist at Luleå University of Technology.
A total of thirteen projects have been awarded, nine of which have continoued funding. The purpose of the foundation is that all children should grow up to safe and strong individuals with a positive future trust regardless of the conditions. With the help of the expert council, projects are selected that create a positive change in society.
Increases children's physical activity
The active school transport project is based on gamification, participation and integration in learning, which proved successful in a successful pilot project.
30 years ago, 90 percent of the children walked to school but has declined to 50 percent today.
– Using gamification and participation, we have carried out a successful pilot project for children in grade 1. The project increased children's physical activity and made it possible to integrate learning in a playful way, says Stina Rutberg, Senior Lecturer in Physical Therapy at Luleå University of Technology.
In addition to the development of the children's knowledge and strengthening their self-esteem, classroom cohesion was promoted and the psychosocial environment improved. In addition, the attitude of the parents changed, their confidence in the children's ability to safely go cycling to school increased.
