Ahmed’s main research focus is on urban stormwater management. Ahmed holds a PhD degree in Urban Water Engineering from Luleå University of Technology in 2016. During his PhD studies, Ahmed investigated and evaluated the long-term hydraulic and treatment performance, operation, and maintenance needs of different stormwater control measures (porous pavements, infiltration trenches, grass swales, wet ponds, and constructed wetlands) including the investigation of factors affecting this performance by design, construction, post-construction operation, and maintenance. Broadening his field of research, Ahmed has recently been working on stormwater bioretention facilities with the focus on testing and verifying the lab results in field by constructing facilities with sophisticated site-adapted design which is to large extent based on earlier outcomes from Urban Water Engineering Research group.
