Musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs) and cold exposure
My research is about the effect of cold exposure on skeletal muscle function and identify some of the physiological and neuro-chemical mechanisms involved, for propose alternatives to improve working conditions in cold conditions
To find out if cold environment causes musculoskeletal problems, which kind of problems, to which body part, and for what mechanisms
To identify musculoskeletal disorders associated with cold exposure.
To investigate if cold exposure is a unique factor affecting skeletal muscle function or if cold is a co-factor.
To investigate the mechanisms of lesions caused by cold upon the osteomuscular system.
To investigate how muscular performance (fatigue, strength, human movements, etc) is affected by cold.
To evaluate the effect of protective clothing in the developing of musculoskeletal disorders in cold environments.
To establish the interaction of cold and other contributing factors in the development of musculoskeletal disorders.
Benefits of the Project
To identify the mechanisms most frequently involved in musculoskeletal lesion genesis in the workplace.
To reduce the prevalence of musculoskeletal disorders in cold store and others cold workplaces.
One important outcome of this investigation will be to identify new strategies of preventing musculoskeletal disorders in cold stores workplace and in cold regions.
